Why are these props appropriate for our genre & audience?
The props are appropriate to the genre reggaeton because they all link together to show a man who is pursuing a woman, which is the main point in almost every reggaeton video. It also perfectly relates to our main audience, teenagers, who are entering the world of romantic relationships, so they can relate to the protagonist of the music video. The car and jacuzzi are props normally seen in these types of videos, leaning into the jacuzzi side, it is more luxurious, and that is one of the main characteristics of props that reggaeton singers include in their music videos. Seeing it from the surface, the makeup, perfume and comb represent how people use different things to feel more attractive, trying to make someone like you. In this case, the protagonist uses the perfume to smell good and the comb to look better so he impresses the girl. The girl uses the makeup to also present herself better and make a good impression. All these props relate to a lot of things teenagers use today everyday to make a better impression and feel finer.
How is symbolism used in our props?
Going deeper into the symbolism used in the props, the makeup represents beauty, and how the girl wants to show off her best characteristics to the man she likes by putting on makeup, this way she probably feels prettier and that is why she is doing it. The frame with the photo inside of the two characters represents connections between people, even though they aren’t together, by putting up that photo she feels closer to him. The flower bouquet represents love and romance, which relates perfectly to the song which is about a boy who is in love with a girl, and tries his best to get her attention and be with her.
